Mark Warford is a Fulbright and State Department specialist who teaches courses in Spanish at all levels, as well as linguistics and humanities for the Modern and Classical Languages Department. Warford has contributed to research on international education, Vygotskyan sociocultural theory, teacher cognitions, and educational innovations. From presenting at the International Study Association on Teachers and Teaching annual meetings in Dublin and Amsterdam to keynoting at the EdCrunch educational innovation conference in Moscow, Warford has emerged as a leader in transnational conversations on educational research. This work culminated with the publication of Reforms and Innovation in Education (Springer, 2017), which he co-edited with Sasha Sidorkin, a prominent Russian educational researcher.

More recent work centers on global humanities, with a focus on translation and psychoanalytic studies. Mantha: Alchemies of the cultural turn (Vernon, 2023), for example, expands the Jungian canon to include a diversity of both Western and non-Western archetypes and perspectives of personal and cultural change. Transglobal Humanities: Meeting the Moment (Vernon, 2025) is an edited volume that challenges traditional Western notions of the humanities and arbitrary divisions between the disciplines. Current projects center on the collection and translation into English of Latin American scholarship in post-Jungian studies, work that has emerged from his ongoing collaboration with the Centro Jung de Buenos Aires.

On campus, Warford has a record of advocating for international and New American students as well as for transglobal competencies-related program and curricular innovation at Buffalo State. A related focus is the emergent field of Languages for Professions and Specific Purposes, which has been integrated into MCL programs and the Technical Writing certificate, as well as the Psychology Department’s microcredential in Mental Health Spanish.
